Save versus export

Save keeps a local browser record. Export is a deliberate action that creates a document, image, text file, JSON file, or sends the conversation to a selected app such as Notion or Obsidian.

Browser-local storage

Saved browser captures live in browser-local storage first. That makes saving fast, but it also means important conversations should be exported before you uninstall the extension, clear browser storage, or move to a different browser profile.

Limits

Free and Pro both allow unlimited local saves. Export limits apply only to selected formats.

What a local save is for

A local save is the starting point for later export and review. It lets you keep a conversation available in the browser extension without immediately deciding on PDF, Word, Notion, or another destination. Use local save when you want to capture the conversation now and choose the final format later.

How to verify a save

After saving, reopen the RecallBase popup and look for the saved conversation entry. Check the title, source app, and timestamp rather than relying on memory. If the saved item is missing, confirm that the page was a supported conversation and that browser extension storage was not cleared.

What not to assume

A browser save is not a RecallBase remote backup. If you uninstall the extension, clear browser storage, or move to another browser profile, local browser data can be removed. Export important conversations to a file you control before making browser storage changes.
