Install the browser extension

Install the extension from the current download path, open a supported AI chat, then use the popup, floating button, right-click menu, or Export Studio. You can start without an account.

The RecallBase popup right after install, with Current chat quick actions and an empty Memories list.
On first open, the popup already offers Current chat exports; Memories fills up as you save chats.

Use Customize shortcuts to choose which export actions the popup's quick buttons run.

Step 1: Install

Install RecallBase from the Chrome Web Store listing or the Microsoft Edge Add-ons listing. The Firefox listing is still being finalized; check the download page for the current install path.

Step 2: Pin RecallBase

Pinning the extension keeps the popup one click away while you are reading an AI conversation.

  1. 1

    Click your browser's Extensions icon.

  2. 2

    Find RecallBase.

  3. 3

Click the pin icon so RecallBase stays visible in the toolbar.

Step 3: Save or export your first chat

Open a supported conversation page. RecallBase shows save and export actions in the popup and on the page itself.

  1. 1

    Open a supported AI conversation.

  2. 2

    Open the RecallBase extension popup.

  3. 3

Use a quick action such as Markdown, PDF, Word, Image, Text, Copy Markdown, Copy Image, Obsidian, or Notion.

  4. 4

Open Export Studio if you want to preview or choose messages first.

  5. 5

Keep the saved item in browser storage or export it to a file or app you choose.

How to verify the extension is ready

A clean install gives you three visible signals. The toolbar icon is available. The popup opens without an account requirement. A supported conversation page shows save or export actions after the chat loads. If you only see an unsupported state, check the URL: you may be on a product home page, model picker, search screen, settings page, or billing page instead of a conversation.

  1. 1

    Pin RecallBase to the toolbar.

  2. 2

Open a supported conversation with visible messages.

  3. 3

Open the popup and confirm current-chat actions appear.

  4. 4

Try Markdown first because it is the simplest local export path.

Where export buttons appear

You can export from the popup, the floating button on the AI page, the browser right-click menu, or Export Studio. If you are not sure which one to use, start with the popup.

  1. 1

Popup: best for beginners and saved chats.

  2. 2

Floating button: fastest while reading the current chat.

  3. 3

Right-click menu: useful when the floating button is hidden.

  4. 4

Export Studio: best when you want to preview, pick messages, copy, or change layout.

In the popup, open the export menu and choose Customize shortcuts to decide which actions the quick buttons run.

Permissions

The extension needs browser permissions to recognize supported AI conversation pages and run explicit save or export actions. Those permissions never justify sending prompt text, answers, raw DOM, cookies, tokens, local file paths, or screenshots to the RecallBase website. Account and Pro checks use RecallBase account endpoints for identity and plan status only; those checks do not send conversation text to the website.

Before uninstalling

Export anything important before uninstalling. Browser extension storage can be removed with the extension.
