Why watermarks exist

Watermarks separate Free and Pro export behavior while keeping local saves and Markdown export unlimited.

After upgrading, reopen the extension or use Refresh Pro status so it picks up your new plan.

Which exports are affected

Watermark behavior applies to visual outputs where a Free/Pro distinction is visible: PDF footer behavior and image watermark behavior. Markdown remains the clean, unlimited editable path. Word, Notion, and other exports are governed by their own Free/Pro limits as shown in the capability table.

After upgrading

After a successful upgrade, the extension needs current plan status before it can remove watermarks. Reopen the extension, refresh Pro status, or reconnect the account if needed. If the website account shows Pro but the extension still behaves like Free, use the Pro troubleshooting guide before repeating paid export workflows.

How to verify the watermark is gone

Use a short non-sensitive conversation for the first test after upgrading. Open the extension, refresh Pro status if the control is available, then create a small PDF or image export. For PDF, check the preview or saved file for the footer behavior. For image export, check the PNG before sharing it anywhere. If the file still looks like a Free export, confirm the same account is signed in on the website and linked in the extension.

What does not change

Removing a watermark does not move saved conversations to RecallBase servers and does not change where exported files are stored. The output still goes to the browser download, print dialog, clipboard, or app destination that you choose. Treat the exported file as a local document and store it in a folder you control.
